To me, it sounds like a sailing term. But apparently it showed up first “in an 1808 letter in the Correspondence 1787–1870, of Queen Victoria’s lady of the bedchamber – Lady Sarah Spencer Lyttelton:

Well, lo and behold! I did not know that.

~Today, I found a spider in my bed and I squeaked. The spider promptly responded, “Oops, wrong bed”.

Psychedelity: NOT a type of music that a has pretty, hypnotizing, colors (aka the 60s and Fleetwood Mac).

It is the ability to predict the next song in one’s iTunes playlist. Like, knowing the order. Because one remembers the transition from one song to another. I don’t know if that makes sense.

Even if it doesn’t, I’ll describe my experience with Psychedelity, then maybe people will stop edging away from me…

So, one day, little innocent me was listening to Dido’s “Never Want to Say It’s Love”, and in the last five fadeout seconds of the song, I started humming Norah Jones’ “The Nearness Of You” and lo and behold! It played next.

I know, not that awesome. But that was only the first time.

Since then, I’ve predicted Corrine Bailey Rae’s “Another Rainy Day” to Glee’s “Any Way You Want It/ Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’”, Sara Bareilles’ “Bottle It Up” to The Script’s “Breakeven”, Enur’s “Calabria 2007″ to MJ’s “Can You Feel It”, Sinead O’ Connor’s “I Guess the Lord Must Be In New York City” to Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing”, and many many more.

And yes, I do realize that the songs are alphabetical. And that my “psychedelity-ness” is probably a result of me knowing my songs way too well (as in I know all the lyrics of 95% of the songs), and a current drought in the purchase of new music. But it’s fun to think I’m psychic–I mean, psychedelic–NO! I mean abundant in pyschedelity. There we go. Boy, it’s tough only using the noun form. Anyways, even if Psychedelity is only a figment of my imagination, why don’t you guys try listening to your playlists and seeing if you can predict any songs? (without thinking alphabetically- that’s cheating, in case you didn’t know)

Trust me, it’s fun. As in it wastes time. It’s fun.

Or, the fear of swallowing.

I have a fear of swallowing pills. At first, I thought I was a wacked out human being for not wanting to swallow the stupid red thingymavitaminbobbers that are actually kinda small compared to my friend’s calcium pills from Target. Then I discovered online that a bunch of people in the world are either insane wackos like me, or dislike taking pills just as much as I do. 40% of the human population, to be exact.

Another thing: If somebody tells you that the way to easily swallow pills is to tilt your head back so the pill will slide down your throat, slap them in the face/smirk at them/tell them they aren’t very good online surfers/etc. and explain to them that tilting your head down is actually the best way to help a person swallow pills. BECAUSE: the pill will float up (I am assuming that you people swallow your pills with some water) to the back of your throat (ah… buoyancy) naturally, allowing you to more comfortably swallow.

And there’s my genius lesson for the week! See? It’s easy to become less..panicked…when you write about it. *cough* second genius lesson of the week *cough*

What is it with musicals anyways? Whenever we have musicals, people start acting nuts. From the dark side perspective, the showbiz peeps get pretty weird. *If you haven’t realized that I’m talking in “safecode” for this post, then you do now.*

I dunno. My fellow dark side cookie eater says I complain too much. Maybe I should just shut up and go sit in a corner. Sounds like a fine idea except that the showbiz peeps gabber (same thing as jabber). I’ll be so glad when I can be the clear headset dark side person, instead of lowly management running dark side person. “Les grandes personnes” (The Little Prince) tell me I should try out to be a showbiz peep, but somehow I keep avoiding it. I’m just not that type of person I guess. I’ve learned over the years that I’m not a very good peep. Maybe I’m just better off as a dark side person who hides in corners.

~If you totally didn’t get what I just said and now think I’m crazier than ever, I have one thing to say: Deal.

I really like curly hair. Not like, sausage curls, but loose curls…the ones that can be made from curling irons. Sigh. Straight hair. It’s just so boring! Why can’t I have awesome curly hair? Well apparently, people who have curly hair want straight hair, and people who have straight hair want curly hair. I guess it makes sense. For example, it’s like me having Sebastian (my rabbit) and Jaion having her Jasper (her dog). I want a dog, and she wants a rabbit. (I don’t know about the latter, but I sure want a dog. Of course I LOVEEEEEE my bunny wunny rabbit!!!!!!…. but still dogs are awesome).

That was a nice stream of consciousness. I don’t call them rants anymore. Stream of consciousness sounds so English class nerdy. Do any of you readers notice that whenever an author uses the word “nice”, the situation really isn’t nice? Just something that’s obvious but is rarely said aloud.

I’ve been feeling the low for a while. But I withstand it, because I know if I have low days, I have high days.

And I also have Key Lime Pie to console me.

~Books are good comfort company too ya know. In case you people forgot they existed with TV and music and whatnot these days.

No, I am not talking about true love. (ha!) I’m talking about something altogether different entirely. Here it is.

That special place, that special feeling where your fingers skim over the edges of the pages in a book and you feel a certain moment where you just know that’s where you left off. And you’re right, of course.

Ok, that was abstract. and vague. bleh. If you’re like me, someone who NEVER uses bookmarks, and NEVER dog ears her pages, and only sometimes remembers the page numbers, then you know this feeling. You can just feel where you left off. Sigh. it’s a wonderful feeling. And I’m still not talking about true love.

It happens to me with my music too. I’m skimming my fingers over my chopin etudes book and voila, I flip right to the black key etude or the a-flat major or the impossible op. 10 no. 4 because I can feel the rough/worn edge of the place I’ve flipped to so many times before.

That was even more vague. and abstract.

but it was genius, wasn’t it.
